Samara Tena, MS, RD, LDN
Outpatient Dietitian
(She/Her/Hers)
How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?
Curious, gentle, and supportive. I recognize that nutrition can be overwhelming for many reasons. There is so much conflicting information out there! My goal is to collaborate on how to best nourish YOU. In sessions, we’ll chat about all the things that can (and do) affect food. Then we’ll go creating goals that are specific to your needs and realistic for your capacity.
Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?
I love nutrition counseling for supporting general wellness and mental health. Food is a part of self-care and I like getting creative with clients to find sustainable ways of feeding themselves. I also enjoy working with neurodivergent folks– whether that’s diagnosed or suspected ADHD, Autism, OCD, sensory processing issues, etc.
If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?
I love art and animals, so perhaps an artist or wildlife rehabilitator.
P.S. Show me pictures of your pets!
Where can we find you when you’re not in client sessions?
You’ll most often find me working on DIY projects, painting and listening to audiobooks, gardening, or hanging with my partner and two cats. When I’m out and about I enjoy thrifting, visiting the library, and trying new restaurants!
