Molly List, MS, RD, LDN
Outpatient Dietitian
(She/Her/Hers)
How do you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?
I strive to be personable, supportive and empathetic. Since nutrition is nuanced, I enjoy debunking wellness culture’s mis-information about nutrition so my clients can explore their own beliefs, habits, and goals around food as they move towards a way of eating that works for and is unique to them. I enjoy collaborating with my clients on how to support improvements in health and wellness while honoring their food preferences and available resources. Food should be energizing & nutritious, yet satisfying & tasteful!
Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?
Anytime I have the opportunity to connect and hear from clients about their experiences with food, nutrition and body image I feel honored to do what I do! I really enjoy supporting clients in improving or preventing chronic disease using a weight neutral, non-diet approach. As science continues to connect how interrelated and harmonious the different systems within our bodies work with one another, like the connection between mental health and digestion, I would love to further my education on integrative and functional nutrition.
If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?
I love my work as a dietitian. I can’t pick just one other profession so here are the three I would split my time between – chef, activities coordinator at a nursing home, and helping hands at a flower farm somewhere in Western NC! I love to cook, watch people laugh and bring joy to people (especially older adults), and would love to be around fresh, local flowers (and be able to learn a thing or two more about flowers as well!).
Where can we find you when you’re not in client sessions?
You might find me getting creative in the kitchen – not following a recipe is my forte! Aside from that, you’ll find me hiking somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains with my husband and dog, painting mountain landscapes or enjoying a favorite food or coffee spot!
