Erin Hancock Heath, MPH, RD, LDN

Outpatient Dietitian

(She/Her/Hers)

How would you describe your approach to nutrition counseling?

My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in nonjudgement and compassion. Each person’s relationship with food is deeply personal and often related to their sense of self. Therefore, my aim during counseling sessions is to provide a comfortable, judgement-free zone that will allow my clients to be their most-authentic selves. I believe that compassion and curiosity are key when helping others achieve their food and nutrition goals.

Which avenues of dietetics do you feel most passionate about pursuing?

My biggest passion in dietetics is simply building genuine connection with others! I feel this is the best way to help folks heal their relationships with food and their body. Aside from that, my special interest is Diabetes Mellitus, including Types 1, 2 and Gestational diabetes. I am currently working toward a certification in Diabetes care and education (CDCES). I approach all nutrition counseling from a non-diet, weight-inclusive lens.

If you were to have any other profession other than Registered Dietitian, what would it be and why?

I think I would either be an event planner or travel agent. Both require organization, creativity, and lots of research, all things I love to do. Planning the eating occasions would undoubtedly be the highlights for me – I get very excited about food!

Where can we find you when you’re not in client sessions?

You can often find me at home with my beautiful family and spoiled houseplants. I enjoy reading, yard work, cooking and baking in my free time, but I would never turn down a coffee or tea date.
